This 1940's parquet floor was extremely damp and rotting under a thick rubber underlay and carpet ; the blocks turned to dust and disintegrated when lifted ; normally we would restore sections of the floor but in this case it was quite obvious that we should discard the entire floor; the underfloor also had severe damp issues and it was important to take these factors into account
